While the Silver Stars remain the only undefeated team in the league, the Mercury (0-2) join Tulsa as the WNBA's only winless teams but also have played the fewest games. Phoenix clearly has plenty of room for improvement but so do the Silver Stars,

The premier women's basketball league in the world, the WNBA is one of the beacons of women's professional sport. Founded in 1996 by the National Basketball Association, the WNBA has benefitted from the full faith and backing of the NBA to grow and become a fixture of the American sporting scene.
With twelve teams, the league has eight "sister teams" (WNBA franchises affiliated with NBA teams) and four unaffiliated teams. The WNBA is the first women's professional sports league to successfully sell their TV rights and games are broadcast on ESPN and over-the-air on ABC. Crowds of over 10,000 for WNBA games are not uncommon.
The Los Angeles Sparks, featuring legendary centre Lisa Lesie, also won two titles. One feature of the WNBA has been coaches with NBA experience. Paul Westhead became the first coach to win titles in both the NBA and WNBA in 2007 with the Phoenix Mercury, and championship-winning coaches like Bill Laimbeer, Michael Cooper and Corey Gaines enjoyed successful NBA careers. Last year's champions were the Seattle Storm, who defeated the Atlanta Dream on the back of their star Australian centre Lauren Jackson. The WNBA has consistently looked to expand their revenue streams, becoming one of the first sports leagues in the US to sell advertising on their jersey and launching web-based streaming of television broadcasts.
With the Connecticut Sun - located in one of the hotbeds of women's college basketball - moving towards independent ownership, the league is stabilising and looking to remain the hottest destination for women's basketball players and fans from around the world.

Hi Folks at Mirror UK,
Regarding the above article where you mention the Connecticut Sun team; are you all aware that we own the rights to one of your players by the name of Joanne Needham I think? Guess somehow her name was added to the draft list a yr or so ago and our Coach Thibault selected her. Wondered if anyone knew when she might actually consider coming to Connecticut to play?
