Junior sailing registration
ST. THOMAS - Registration is now open for the Sea Star Clinic (June 20-22), the Sea Star Team Race (June 23) and Scotiabank International Optimist Regatta (June 24-26). All three events will be held at the St. Thomas Yacht Club.
Celebrating its 19th year and known as one of the first and largest regattas in the Caribbean to promote youth sailing, the 2011 Scotiabank International Optimist Regatta will welcome participants this year from around the world. Over 90 8- to 15-year-old junior sailors are expected to attend this V.I. Sailing Association and Caribbean Sailing Association sanctioned regatta.

Softball pitching clinic
The Virgin Islands Softball Federation, in collaboration with Housing Parks & Recreation and the Virgin Isalnds Olympic Committee, will host a 4-day fast pitch softball pitching clinic for beginning and intermediate pitchers on the islands of St. Thomas and St. Croix. The St. Thomas clinic will be Friday and Saturday at Emille Griffith Ballpark. The St. Croix clinic will be Sunday and Monday and will take place at the Mathew Charles Ballpark.
The clinics are open to students 9 years of age and older and the coaches/managers of elementary, junior high, high school and open league teams. For more information, call Warren Brooks Sr. at 626-2767 or 718-7026.
Free baseball clinic for kids
ST. JOHN - A free four-day baseball clinic will be held at the Cruz Bay National Park field today to Saturday for children ages 4-12. The instructional exercise will include hitting, fielding, throwing and base running. The Love City Live! Youth Enrichment Program along with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) and its Legends for Youth program are hosting the clinic.

Hawks Sports Summer Camp
ST. THOMAS - Youth athletes interested in basketball, football, softball and other athletic endeavors are encouraged to enrol in the 2011 Hawks Sports Summer Camp, which will take place at the CAHS gym from Monday to Aug. 5.
Bastille Day Party Site - News
THOMAS - The Northside Sportfishing Club's Annual Bastille Day Kingfish Tournament will be held July 10 at Hull Bay and a $2000 cash prize will go to angler who catches the largest kingfish as many other cash prizes will also be awarded.

Take to the streets on July 15 for the French Cultural Center’s 36th Bastille Day Party ! If anyone knows how to throw a party French style, it’s the French Cultural Center. Marlborough Street from Berkeley to Clarendon will be shut down to make way for “2,000 revelers in the street” and French food and drinks, including beer and wine, will be available for sale. Yoro Ndiaye . Throw on a cute sundress and let loose! This is a don’t-miss summer event celebrating freedom, cultural diversity, community, and friendship between nations. And you can just imagine how it shakes things up in the Back Bay.
Volunteers a re needed ! Register before 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, to assist for a few hours before, during, or after the event. Tasks range from set-up, guest check-in, bartending, and assisting restaurants with their stands to providing information for attendees and helping with clean-up.
(And note that this is another organization with a great function space for private events – a beautiful Victorian mansion on Marlborough Street in Boston.)
