20x25x6 MERV 13 Aprilaire and Space-Gard Replacement 2200 Filter ...

First the good: - Shipping was fast, ordered the 8th arrived the 11th

Now the bad:

This is NOT an Aprilaire filter. It is 20x25x6 and fits a space-gard 2200 frame but if you are expecting the little aprilaire box with the fine quality accordion filter that you have to put the combs in you will be disappointed.

The picture of the product at Amazon is in no way representative of the product received. It’s a black and white cardboard frame and has maybe half as many pleats as a true Aprilaire filter. It’s black and white for a reason… it’s simply a low quality generic filter.

I will give each no more than 3 months in the unit before i pitch them and I will NEVER use this vendor or Amazon for filter media again.

I ordered these filters because they were represented on the Amazon site as Aprilaire and SpaceGard replacement filters with a picture showing the Aprilaire logo and a link to “other products by SpaceGard”. I received the units to find that they are very cheap imitations: 23 pleats instead of 38 in the oem product and pleats held in place by flimsy cardboard that was partially crushed by the time I had received it. A totally unsatisfactory product. The shipper refused to take them back unless I pay for return shipping and a restocking fee. Bait and switch tactics at their worst! They claimed products are sold as compatible but that is not what the listing says nor is that implied by the Aprilaire logo and the link to “Other products by SpaceGard”. The first mention of “compatible” was on the invoice I received with the product. Totally unsatisfactory. This company is shipping substandard product represented to be original equipment. I do not recommned purchasing anything from them.

I ordered these filters because my hvac guy wanted 0 to come switch out the filter. This was soo much cheaper! Also, my old filter had plastic “pleat spacers”, and with this new one I didn’t seem to need those anymore, it holds together on its own. Incidentally, I found out MERV 13 is a very high filtration, suitable for hospitals; I probably could have gone a bit lower in MERV, which is cheaper. Still, all in all a good deal.
